The Windows 10 music player, Groove Music, can play both M4a and FLAC files. Is there any reason to use iTunes or Foobar2k over it?: audiophile 97 votes, 70 comments. 1.3m members in the audiophile community. Technically it’s true that converting FLAC files necessarily means you cannot play those files in iTunes. But it’s not true that the information is pointless, as the majority of people wanting to play FLAC files on iTunes are looking for FLAC-quality music on iTunes, and don’t care about the actual extension.

Microsoft recently added a pretty major feature to the Xbox One with the Summer Update, and that is support for Background Music. This feature isn’t enabled by default for all apps that can play music – instead, developers will need to add support for this feature to their apps. For example, Groove Music and Pandora already support Background Music on the Xbox One. Now, there’s a new app for the Xbox One which allows users to play music from USB in the background. The app, which is called “Simple Background Music Player” is available for free on the Xbox One, and it allows users to play MP3, WMA, and even FLAC music files from a USB key. Additionally, if you have a USB external drive formatted as NTFS or FAT32, you will also be able to play music from there in the background using this app.
If you are an Xbox One user running the Summer Update, just head over to the Store and search for “background” to download and install the app.

Oct 10, 2018 Worse still, when arranged in a playlist, for some reason both Groove and Windows Media Player would skip the first minute of a track, and shorter tracks would not even play. Microsoft appears aware of the issue, with Microsoft noting in a 19H1 build: We fixed an issue resulting in FLAC metadata being cut short in File Explorer and other locations. But iTunes does not support flac, as you probably know. Therefore, I'd like to be able to play my flac files in Groove without giving up on iTunes and importing ALL my music into Groove. Dec 08, 2018 Groove Music comes pre-installed with Windows 10 and can play FLAC files. The support was recently added, and now the player supports many lossless formats including FLAC.
